Employee Falls While Cutting Tree

On August 25, 2005, Employee #1, working for a tree care service, was assigned to cut down an oak tree located in the backyard of a customer's residence in Visalia, CA. He decided to take it down in two sections. He used a ladder and climbed up the tree, tying off the top of the tree. Employee #1 told his coworkers to pull on the tree top while he was cutting it. The helpers started to pull on the rope and before he finished cutting the top of the tree, the whole tree came down, causing a fracture to his leg. He was taken to Kaweah Delta Hospital, where he was hospitalized.
