Investigation Summary
Employee #1, of Foster Farms Inc., was washing down equipment with a hose when he saw a piece of chicken skin stuck to the side of a hopper that collects scraps. He decided to step over a section of machinery to get to the hopper. Without thinking, he reached down to push the scrap skin into the hopper. His fingers came in contact with the auger and two fingers on his right hand were amputated to the first joint.
