Employee's Neck Is Fractured by Falling Pipe

On October 21, 2009, Employee #1 was loading pipes onto a flatbed truck, when he threw a strap over the load to tie it down. The center pipe started to move, and Employee #1 tried to recenter it. The pipe then fell off the truck and hit Employee #1, fracturing the C6 (sixth cervical) vertebra in his lower neck. Employee #1 was hospitalized for two days.
