Employee killed by overloaded, overturned tractor

At 5:30 a.m., Employee #1 arrived at work and was told by the ranch foreman to continue the previous day's work and stake up limbs on a section of the prune orchard. Employee #1 drove an orchard tractor equipped with front end hydraulic forks to the field. He stopped on his way and picked up an entire load of wooden tree props on the forks. The forks were fully raised when the tractor's wheels veered from an elevated gravel road. The loaded tractor then flipped over into a shallow ditch. Employee #1 was pinned doubled over under the tractor's seat. The foreman found the tractor wheels-up, on top of the unconscious worker. About an hour later, Employee #1 died of asphyxia.
