Employee's foot fractured when run over by cart

Employee #1 and two coworkers were working at a prune dehydrator. They were pushing a transfer cart faster than normal when Employee #1 slipped and his right foot became caught between a fixed alignment tube and the cart's steel wheel. He suffered a compound fracture when his foot was run over by the cart. At the time of the accident, Employee #1 was wearing tennis shoes. The employer was cited for a violation of T8CCR 3385 (a), for use of inappropriate footwear.
