Event: 08/31/2002
Employee Amutates Finger While Testing Valve

At 11:30 a.m. on August 31, 2002, an employee helped the shop mechanic for a citrus juice bottler test a Tri-Clover valve in the plant's machine shop. The employee was holding the valve on a worktable while the mechanic applied air pressure to the valve's connector. This caused the valve's piston to contract, and the tip of employee's left pinkie finger was amputated. The employee was hospitalized.
