Employee's leg struck by exploding steel drum

Employee #1 was using a cutting torch to cut a 55-gallon steel drum that contained the residue of a flammable liquid. The drum exploded and struck Employee #1 on the leg, causing a compound fracture. Employee #1 brought the drum into the shop so that he could use his tool and machines to turn the drum into a barbecue grill. Prior to the incident, the manager told Employee #1 not to use the cutting torch.
