Event: 07/20/2002
Employee Falls from Elevation and Suffers Lacerations

At approximately 2:00 p.m. on July 20, 2002, an employee of Calhoun Construction, Inc., rolled floor trusses at a new, two-story residential construction project. He moved along a 6 in. by 10 in. top beam when he tripped, and reached out for a truss to keep himself from falling. The employee was unable to maintain his balance, and his left upper thigh and his left wrist became caught by a truss hanger as he fell approximately 15 feet to the ground. He sustained severe lacerations, and injuries to his foot and ankle. He was treated at a local hospital and the employee subsequently underwent ligament surgery.
