Event: 03/12/2002
Employee Falls from Ladder

On March 12, 2002, Employee #1 was part of an 18-person crew pruning peach trees. As he was climbing down a ladder, he felt the ladder's third leg sink into a hole. This caused the ladder to lean forward. As Employee #1 continued to descend, he let go of the pruning loppers that he was holding with his left hand and tried to keep himself from falling on the second and third rung. While trying to hold himself, the loppers hit his chest, causing him to fall backward onto the ground. Employee #1 was transported to Gridley Hospital and then airlifted to Enloe Medical Center in Chico. Employee #1 was treated for a severe laceration on his chest area.
