Employee struck by spinning conduit and injured

On April 18, 2003, Employee #1 and coworkers, of HCI Inc. were installing telecom conduit in a bore pit. They had finished the boring operation and were starting to put three 1.25 in. conduits and one 4 in. conduit back through the 140-ft bore pit. The swivel on the bore momentarily got stuck causing the conduit to spin which struck Employee #1 and tangled him up in it. He suffered a knee injury which required surgery. He was taken to Sierra View Hospital for emergency treatment. He was hospitalized and treated for his injuries.
