Employee's finger amputated in a forklift mishap

On October 2, 2002, Employee #1, of Guardian Fabrication Inc., was picking up a roll of vinyl to set into a rack so that he could roll out the needed amount of vinyl to set into a rack. The rolls are stored in a vertical position, then picked up by a forklift with a special attachment and rolled to the horizontal position and a bar is then placed in the middle of the roll and it is set on a rack. The employee set the roll over the rack first and then tried to insert the bar when the roll shifted a little bit and the ring finger tip of his right hand was caught between the bar and the rack. Employee #1 was taken to Reedley Hospital for emergency treatment, but was not hospitalized.
