Employee's hand injured when caught in rollers

On September 7, 2003, Employee #1 was removing weeds from the cucumber harvest product. The product being harvested was moved along several conveyor belts. An upper conveyor belt had accumulated a bulk of weed debris that the employee attempted to remove. As the employee attempted to do this, his gloved hand got caught in a set of rollers. Employee #1 sustained a serious right hand injury and was hospitalized. The employee was wearing baggy gloves and the guard was not in the down position.
