Event: 08/02/1996
Employee killed in fall as part of TV stunt act

At approximately 9:55 p.m. on August 2, 1996, Employee #1, an experienced stunt man with PM Entertainment Group, was at the Valley Generating Station of the Los Angeles City Department of Water and Power, filming location scenes for a television production entitled "L.A. Heat." He was supposed to fall from facility level 992 onto a stunt air bag at level 945, a distance of about 45 ft. Employee #1 did not hit the center of the bag, but instead struck its edge and continued to fall. He landed on concrete at ground level, suffering head injuries. Medics who were standing by immediately transported Employee #1 by ambulance to Holy Cross Hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
