Employee's arm fractured when caught in unguarded conveyor

At 2:40 p.m. on July 6, 1993, Employee #1 was whisking dirt from under a dirt conveyor with his hand, which was gloved to the wrist. His hand got caught and dragged into the conveyor. Employee #1 was taken by fire department ambulance to St. John's Hospital, where he was treated for a right arm fracture and other injuries. The employer admitted that the conveyor was unguarded and said that he will install guards immediately. He also admitted that the guards were on site. Citations RG-341(a) and SER-3999(b) were issued.
