Investigation Summary
Employee #1 and coworkers were servicing a water well to replace the pump. They pulled 21 ft long joints of 2 1/2 in. diameter pipe out of the well and leaned one end of each joint on a 2 by 6 board fence that ran around the well. The other ends of the pipes were on the ground. Employee #1 climbed under the pipes to work on the plumbing, which ran from the well to the master holding tank. As he was coming out from under the pipes, he reached up and grabbed a pipe that was supported by the fence. The fence broke and the pipe fell on Employee #1. He sustained serious injuries, for which he was hospitalized.
