Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 170695944
Event: 08/26/1993
Employee injures heel in fall from scaffold

At about 5:00 p.m. on August 15, 1993, Employee #1 was working alone on a construction site. He was drywall taping while on a small rolling scaffold about 6 feet high, 2 1/2 to 3 feet wide and about 4 feet long. Employee #1 said he had the wheels locked and had spilt some taping mud on the scaffold platform. Employee #1 slipped on the mud, which caused the scaffold to tip over. As the scaffold tipped over, he grabbed some metal bars, which were about 13 to 14 feet high, from a false ceiling and hung there for a short time, and then he dropped to the cement floor. Employee #1 broke his left heel, but drove himself to a medical center for treatment. He was not hospitalized.
