Employee's knee injured when pinned by backing truck

At approximately 11:00 p.m. on March 5, 1997, Employee #1 was guiding a lavatory truck onto the front of an aircraft lavatory in the terminal by gate 31-C. She was to the rear of the vehicle when she signaled the driver to stop backing up. The truck's brakes failed and Employee #1 became pinned between the truck's rear bumper and the nose wheel of the aircraft. She sustained a fractured left knee and was transported to Centinella Hospital in Inglewood, CA, for treatment.
