Employee's fingers amputated in pepper grinder

Employee #1, a kim chee preparer with 1 year of experience with the Chin Jung Food Company, was grinding chili peppers in a Korean-made pepper grinder. The machine had large belt and pulley drives, gear drives, and grinding/shearing rollers, all of which had been left unguarded by the manufacturer. Employee #1 was attempting to manually force peppers into the grinders when his hand was pulled into the grinding rollers. Four of his fingers were amputated or crushed.
