Employee's fingers amputated by circular saw

Employee #1 was a carpenter working for California Engineering Contractor, Inc. He and a crew were constructing seismic retrofitting for the 280 and 101 freeways. On March 17, 1993, Employee #1 was cutting a short piece of 2 in. by 4 in. by 9 in. wood to make wedges. At approximately 10:20 a.m., the Skilsaw cut through his little and ring fingers and partially through the middle finger of his right hand. The paramedics were called and he was taken to San Francisco General Hospital.
