Employee's fingertip severed by falling drum

While manually hoisting a barrel/drum of smashed used oil filters through a vehicle service pit, Employee #1 lost control of the drum, causing it to swing against the pit opening and sever his fingertip at the first joint. No mechanical apparatus was used.
