Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 170611016
Event: 04/09/1993
Employee's foot is bruised by car wash conveyor

At about 1:00 p.m. on April 9, 1993, Employee #1, an 18-year-old car wash employee, was injured when his right foot got caught in the conveyor that pulls cars through the car wash. 911 was called and paramedics transported Employee #1 to a local hospital. X-rays revealed no fractures, and he was released after being treated for a bruised right ankle. The opening where Employee #1 stuck his foot is normally covered by a hinged guard plate. The left tires of cars to be washed roll over that plate and rollers pop out from under the cover to move the car along the track through the wash. How the employee got his foot into the opening could not be determined.
