Investigation Summary
On August 14, 2004, Employee #1 was working on the Gill Farm vineyard employer is in the grape growing business. The grapes were being harvested by a grape harvesting machine, some vines got caught in the mechanism of the harvester. Employee #1 was assigned to clear out the vines. While he was working on the harvesting machine, Employee #1 did not deenergize it. When he finished the operator did not make sure the path was clear and took off. The operator ran over Employee #1 causing serious injuries to his upper torso. He was taken to UMC Hospital.
