Employee amputates little finger

On December 06, 2001, Employee #1, a laborer, was working on a trenching job and noticed that a "crumb chute" on a Vermeer trenching machine that was being positioned was hung up on the side of the trench. Employee #1 grabbed the crumb chute and pushed it to get it back into the trench. When he did, the crumb chute fell into the trench and caught his hand and trapped it. He suffered an amputation of the little finger of his right hand. He was hospitalized.
