Employee's finger amputated by trap machine throwing arm

At approximately 7:30 a.m. on July 14, 1997, Employee #1, of the Kern County Gun Club, was using a handheld grease gun to lubricate a zerk fitting. His right arm accidentally struck the ON/OFF toggle switch, activating the trap machine. A portion of Employee #1's right index finger was amputated when it became caught in the machine's throwing arm. He was taken to Memorial Hospital in Bakersfield, CA, where he was treated and released.
