Employee lacerates arm in moving shaft

At approximately 6:15 a.m. on August 31, 1995, Employee #1, of Del Monte Foods, was working at an FMC pitting machine when she attempted to retrieve a peach that was adjacent to an unguarded horizontal shaft. While she was reaching for the peach, the sleeve of Employee #1's jacket became entangled in the moving shaft, resulting in a serious laceration to her left arm. She was transported via ambulance to St. Agnes Medical Center, Fresno, CA, where she was hospitalized.
