Employee Fractures Ribs After Falling Off A Ladder

On February 23, 1999, Employee #1, part owner and a glazier of Breezway Thrifty Glass Company, fractured his ribs after falling off a ladder while working on a window at a coffee shop located in Chatsworth California. Employee #1 was using an extension ladder to get to the window. He was approximately 10 feet up on the ladder when it slipped out from under him, causing him to fall. When he fell, he broke some ribs, which in turn punctured his lungs. The ladder that was used had only one non-slip step on it, and the ladder was not tied securely to prevent falling. He was taken to Northridge Medical Center for emergency treatment.
