Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 170698278
Event: 10/21/1992
Employee's fingers injured by exposed cutting blade

On October 21, 1992, Employee #1, of Walt Disney, Co., was helping a fellow carpenter plane a long piece of lumber on a joiner. After completing one pass on the joiner, the workers attempted to make another pass because the board was not true. At the beginning of the second pass, Employee #1 was holding the board on its edge with his left hand, while his right hand reached down to move the guard. The exposed cutting blade cut his right middle finger and lacerated his right index finger. There was no amputation of either finger. Employee #1 was brought to the studio first aid and then transported to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment. He was released on October 24, 1992.
