Employee's leg fractured in fall on dirt path

Employee #1, of GTE California Transmission Systems, took a dirt path instead of the provided asphalt path. He was wearing tennis shoes appropriate for his job when he slipped, lost his footing and twisted his left leg, fracturing it in two places. The 6 ft 1 in., 312 lb employee is back working light duty. Employee #1 was disciplined by GTE for not paying attention.
