Employee sustains multiple fractures in fall from roof

At approximately 11:30 a.m. on July 12, 1995, Employee #1, of William H. Lavey and Associates, was removing a rock roof so he could replace it with an asphalt shingle roof. As he was removing nails near the edge of the roof, he fell approximately 21 ft to the ground. Employee #1 was not using any fall protection and none was available at the job site. Suffering fractured ankles, right leg, and right toe, Employee #1 was taken to Valley Community Hospital, Santa Maria, where he was hospitalized for seven days.
