Employee's leg fractured when struck by plywood sheets

At approximately 7:21 a.m. on November 2, 1995, Employee #1, of Leonine Construction, Inc., Ventura, CA, was fabricating and fitting a door jamb around a garage door opening. A jack brace was nailed to the door frame to support a stack of 5/8 in., 8 ft by 4 ft plywood roof sheeting on the pitched roof. When Employee #1 removed the brace, the plywood fell, striking and fracturing his left leg. The Ventura Fire Department responded and transported Employee #1 to Ventura County Medical Center. A serious citation under T8CCR 1511(b) will be issued.
