EMPLOYEE FRACTURES SKULL IN FALL

AT APPROXIMATELY 1:30 P.M. ON SEPTEMBER 23, 1993, EMPLOYEE #1 WAS STANDING ON A WALL OF A WOOD-FRAME BUILDING TO CHECK WHETHER IT WAS ALIGNED AND PLUMB. THE WORK TO BE DONE WAS OF VERY SHORT DURATION (APPROXIMATELY 15 SECONDS) AND EMPLOYEE #1 GAINED ACCESS BY USING A LADDER. HE ACCIDENTALLY SLIPPED FROM THE WALL AND FELL APPROXIMATELY 9 FEET TO A CONCRETE FLOOR, STRIKING HIS HEAD ON THE CONCRETE. EMPLOYEE #1 WAS TRANSPORTED TO IRVINE MEDICAL CENTER AND TREATED IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM. EMPLOYEE #1 WAS FOUND TO HAVE A FRACTURED SKULL AND WAS ADMITTED INTO THE HOSPITAL FOR FURTHER MEDICAL CARE AND SURVEILLANCE.
