Employee amputates fingers in conveyor sprocket and chain

Employee #1 was working on a solid waste recycling line. He was standing approximately 3 ft high on a small platform stepladder located near an unguarded conveyor sprocket and gears. He stepped from the stepladder platform, lost his balance, and fell onto the conveyor sprocket and chains, amputating his fingers. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
