Investigation Summary
At approximately 4:50 a.m. on August 30, 1994, Employee #1, of Progressive Plastics Corp., was found dead by a fellow employee in the warehouse area of the molding department. He was taken to Charter Suburban Hospital in Long Beach and was pronounced dead. The investigation revealed that the employee, a foreman, was replacing a mold weighing about 3,500 lb with a Harrington portable gantry crane. No evidence of electrocution was found during the autopsy. The cause of death is inconclusive at this time; his blood was being tested for drug or alcohol abuse.
