Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 170739007
Event: 03/27/1995
Employee killed during robbery

At 9:40 a.m. on March 27, 1995, Employee #1, a clerk for Lucky's, a chain supermarket, was in the main store area stacking dry goods in different stalls and aisles. A Brink's armored car delivery service had stopped for its weekly pickup of money when an armed man walked up to the Brink's guard and yelled, "This is a stickup." The guard pulled out his weapon and a running gun battle ensued. Employees and customers ran, scrambled, and hid behind any shelter they could find. During the gunfire, one of the rounds struck and killed Employee #1 as he was seeking shelter. Employee #1 had worked at Lucky's as a clerk/helper for three to four years.
