ELECTRIC SHOCK & BURN - ELECTRICAL FAULT IN BUS BAR

TWO DRYWALL INSTALLERS WERE WORKING IN AN ELECTRICAL ROOM, REPLACING CONCRETE SMOKE SEALS AROUND 480-VOLT, 3000-AMPERE BUSBARS WHERE THEY PASSED THROUGH THE FLOOR. THE EMPLOYEES WERE FASTENING A METAL TRACK TO SUPPORT THE CONCRETE SEAL AND INSULATION. USING A POWDER-ACTUATED TOOL, THEY SHOT A METAL FASTENER INTO ONE OF THE BUSBARS. THE EMPLOYEES RECEIVED ELECTRIC SHOCKS, AND THEY WERE BURNED AS A RESULT OF THE ELECTRICAL FAULT AND ENSUING ELECTRIC ARC. ONE OF THE EMPLOYEES WAS HOSPITALIZED FOR HIS INJURIES.
