Event: 09/15/2000
Employee falls from roof when truck knocks off trusses

At approximately 7:15 a.m. on September 15, 2000, Employee #1, who was welding roof trusses, fell approximately 30 ft from the roof of a structure under construction. He fell with a 4-ft by 8- ft panel on a truss which was knocked down after a driver of a lift truck bumped into a support column while driving backwards. Some of the panels that had fallen were found to be partially nailed to the roof truss which fell. The driver did not look back and control the movement of the vehicle after placing the 37 ft long steel truss on the roof. Employee #1 suffered a fracture to his right leg, shoulder, ribs, right hand and a black eye for which he was hospitalized.
