Event: 12/17/2001
Employee injured when crushed by falling I beams

On December 17, 2001, Employee #1, an employee of Tech Steel and Supply Co., was driving a flatbed truck into the yard of Ramcast Steel and Tube to pick up an order of four channels. Employee #1 had worked for Tech Steel for one week, had never been trained in safety, and was an unlicensed driver. Upon arriving at Ramcast Steel, Employee #1 drove down the yard road on the left side of the street, when he felt an impact as a result of running into a stored I-beam that was projecting from the storage racks. Ramcast Steel is a distributor of steel beams and tubes that has an outdoor storage warehouse and yard. He got out of the car and saw that three I-beams had fallen onto Employee #2 of Ramcast Steel.
