Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 170613186
Event: 11/30/1993
Two employees fall on slippery roof

At about 9:50 a.m. on November 30, 1993, Employees #1 and #2, maintenance workers for the Roseville City School District, were working on a roof at the Crestmont School. They had climbed onto the roof of the single-story school to check a mechanical unit on the roof. The roof was sloped with a vinyl-type roofing material, which is very slippery when wet or moist. After locating the problem, Employee #1 started to the ladder to get the needed tools and material. As he reached the ladder, he slipped on the roof and fell about 10 ft to the ground. Employee #2, seeing him slip, took one step toward him and also slipped, but he landed on the roof; he didn't fall to the ground. First aid was performed by the Roseville Fire Department and the employees were then transported by ambulance to Roseville General Hospital in Roseville, CA. They were released several hours later after treatment for sprains and stress. The accident was not considered serious.
