EMPLOYEE INJURED WHEN SPRAYED WITH HOT TOMATO JUICE

EMPLOYEE #1 HAS BEEN EMPLOYED WITH STANISLAUS FOOD PRODUCTS FOR 12 YEARS. ACCORDING TO EMPLOYEE #1, ON THE DAY OF THE ACCIDENT HE WAS ASSISTING EMPLOYEE #2 IN REPAIRING A TANK WHERE THE PIPE WAS CONNECTED AND SECURED IN PLACE BY A BRACKET. APPARENTLY, THE BRACKET BROKE AND CAUSED THE PIPE TO BREAK LOOSE AT THE TANK, SPRAYING HOT TOMATO JUICE ON EMPLOYEE #1. EMPLOYEE #1 IS A MEMBER OF THE PULP ROOM CLEANUP CREW. AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT, HE WAS NOT PERFORMING THE WORK HE WAS ASSIGNED AND PAID TO DO (HE WAS WORKING OUT OF CLASS). HE WAS ALSO NOT DIRECTED BY MANAGEMENT TO ASSIST HIS CO-WORKER.
