Investigation Summary
At approximately 11:00 a.m. on November 1, 1995, Employee #1, a double mitre saw operator for Crystal Art Gallery, Vernon, CA, was cutting 45 degree angle frames for pictures. A piece of wood was stuck in the saw blade. He lifted up the saw guard and placed his right hand into the danger zone to clear the piece of wood. He stepped on the foot pedal to bring down the saw while his hand was still in the danger zone, sustaining a severe cut between the thumb and the index finger. He was taken to White Memorial Hospital and was hospitalized. He is now being treated as an outpatient.
