Employee degloves finger when ring catches on cabinet

At about 9:15 a.m. on February 4, 1994, Employee #1, of the Roseville Telephone Co., was working in the coin collection counting vault. Employee #1 was checking the top of a file cabinet. He stepped onto the bottom shelf of the cabinet and hung onto the top of it. As he stepped down, the ring on his right ring finger caught on an extended corner on the top of the cabinet. When he stepped back, the ring flattened and cut into his finger just below the second joint, removing the skin and flesh to the end and degloving the finger bone. First aid was applied and Employee #1 was immediately transported to Roseville General Hospital in Roseville, CA. Attempts were being made to save what was left of the finger.
