Employee injured when thrown from aerial device

Employee #1, a laborer with a company that was dismantling buildings and sheds at a sawmill, was instructed by his superintendent to warm up an aerial device for an operator who was going to be late for work. Instead of just warming up the device, Employee #1 decided to drive it into shed #9. Unskilled at operating an aerial device, the employee lost control of the vehicle and ran into a ditch. Employee #1, who was raised approximately 12 ft above the ground, was thrown from the vehicle's work platform. He was not wearing a safety belt and was not authorized to operate the aerial device.
