Investigation Summary
Employee #1 was one of nine employees who were putting up a wood frame wall on a two story house. It was raining and windy. When there was a break in the weather, the employees put a 2 by 4 on each end of the wall, which was 18 feet high and 12 feet 6 inches wide. This is the procedure by which all walls are raised on a construction site. When the wall, which weighed approximately 450 pounds, was about 85 percent raised, a strong gust of wind caught it. All the workers jumped out of the way, except for Employee #1, who was injured and hospitalized.
