Employee's hand injured between rollers in tubing expander

Employee #1 was operating a plastic tubing expander. He opened the safety door of the cooling chamber and reached in to hold the expanded tubing coming out of the cooling die to feel if he had the correct clearance between the rollers of the catapuller. As Employee #1 held the tubing, his left hand was pulled into the nip point between the rollers. He sustained crushing injuries and subsequently experienced a marked swelling of his hand.
