Employee loses balance and falls from ladder

At about 4:30 p.m. on August 30, 1993, Employee #1 ascended a 10-foot metal ladder to remove boxed merchandise from shelving in preparation for painting an interior wall. Employee #1 picked up four moderate size boxes in both hands and began his descent. At about 6 feet above the floor, he lost his footing and could not steady himself as his hands were occupied by the boxes. Employee #1 fell 6 feet to the vinyl-covered concrete floor. He received a compound fracture of the tibia and fibia at the ankle and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
