Investigation Summary
While re-roofing a single story house, Employee #1 was removing old rain gutters. He was standing with one foot in a roof valley and one foot on the gutter. He was pushing the gutter out to open a joint so the gutter could be removed. The joint leg released suddenly, causing Employee #1 to lose his balance and fall. He landed on his back on a 3 ft high picket fence. Employee #1 sustained two broken ribs, a broken vertebra, and a ruptured spleen.
