Investigation Summary
Employee #1 placed his left hand inside a chop saw blade guard. He then activated the saw with the foot control. The blade rose from the table and severed his hand at the palm. The saw was properly guarded and also had a sensor that had to be satisfied that wood was in place before the blade activated. The blade would not cut unless the sensor was triggered first. Employee #1's hand has been reattached at Stanford Hospital. He is still hospitalized. He is sedated and is not answering questions.
