Employee's foot burned by scalding water

At 4:00 a.m. on March 29, 1997, Employee #1 was cleaning a patty staging steamer machine in the frying and grilling area of a fast food retailer in Fremont, CA. He stepped into a 5-gallon bucket of scalding hot water and sustained second-degree burns on his left food. Employee #1, who was working alone, had not remembered that the water was on the floor in front of him. No accident-related citations were issued.
