Investigation Summary
At 8:46 a.m. on May 2, 2000, Employee #1 was working hanging trim on corners and under the porch. In doing so, he moved his "A" frame ladder, a standard industrial model, 9-feet in height, over to work on a corner. He noted that the ground had far too much of a slope to extend the ladder legs fully, and so did not. Instead, he leaned it against the exterior wall where it was balanced on two legs only. After completing one side, Employee #1 repositioned the ladder again against another wall, still in the folded position, and began working again, nailing boarding in place. At this point, the ladder kicked out from under him and Employee #1 fell about 5 feet to the ground. He was not hospitalized.
