Employee injured when finger is caught by sprocket

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on October 23, 1998, Employee #1, a general maintenance man, amputated the tip of his left ring finger. The employee was turning the pedal of a sprocket wheel with one hand and wiping the grease off the chain with a rag in the other hand. The rag became caught between the sprocket and the chain with his finger, cutting off the tip of left index finger. The employee was hospitalized.
